Financial Aid

All colleges strive to be more accessible. We're committed to that philosophy. We've recently reduced tuition by 33%, making us one of the most reasonably priced private colleges in the country. Belmont Abbey strives to operate on tuition alone, so fundraising can go to student programs and resources. We also work smarter to keep costs down. More than 85% of Belmont Abbey students receive financial aid; 90% receive a merit-based scholarship.

Giving you access to a private college, centered in Jesus Christ, promotes the advantage of developing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Learn more about Financial Aid at The Abbey.

Spiritual life on campus

The heart of spiritual life on campus is the historic Abbey Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, which celebrates Mass daily and three times each weekend. Mass with the monks takes place every weekday, and you can join them for daily prayers and evening Vespers. Mass is also held every Tuesday morning in the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel. We have daily adoration from 6am - 9pm in the chapel.

Reverence for the sacred, awareness of the profound dignity of each person, service to others as an expression of love for God—these are the Benedictine values Belmont Abbey lives by and seeks to instill in students. The Benedictine motto "Ora et Labora," means "prayer and work." Prayer happens in many ways on campus. Work starts in the classroom and extends throughout the community.

As a Benedictine institution, we welcome students of all faiths and strive to instill in them a habit of worship that cultivates their personal spirituality.

Many opportunities for spiritual growth

We encourage students to use their unique talents to serve the campus and local community and to live an integrated Christian life. There are many opportunities for spiritual growth including 20+ Bible studies hosted by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students. At the Abbey students form small, Christ-centered groups creating deep relationships based on faith.

"I love it here because I have found friends that push me in developing virtue, professors that genuinely try to lead me to the truth, monks that are like my brothers or grandfathers and athletics that have pushed me to be the best I can be but not at all cost."

Campus Life

With more than 20 student groups and organizations, Belmont Abbey offers you lots of ways to get involved, take the lead, make a difference, and have fun. All year long, our student-run Campus Activities Board brings in comedians, musical acts, and coffeehouse performances. They also help organize major campus events like the First Day of Class Bash and the annual Crawfish Boil on the Quad.

Live, work, and play at The Abbey

Live in a new residence hall with a state-of-the-art dining center. Work-out in the Student Fitness Center on new equipment. Connect with over 100 new Wi-Fi spots across campus. Study or hang out with friends at the Holy Grounds Coffee Shop. Transition into college life with valuable programs offered at the Wellness Center.

Growth and Advancement

Library Enhancements
In addition to adding a new face to the exterior to match our campus, several interior additions have been made. We have upgraded the study carrels, added an interactive display wall, and switched to high density shelving. There are also new spaces for group studying and data booths.

New Lights on Abbey Yard
Finally, Belmont Abbey will be hosting night games! Thanks to new lights, athletes' practices and games will be more flexible. As a result, an athlete's class schedule will also be more flexible allowing them to be more involved in the community. We also anticipate greater attendance by the larger community and students for an evening of fun at Abbey Yard.

Alumni Field Enhancements
In order to make Alumni Field feel more like a stadium, giant 12' by 10' billboard style pictures now surround the field. Each image features athletes from one of our men or women's teams giving our opponents a spirited welcome to our home field.

Hammock Hangout
Due to the popularity of studying or simply hanging out in hammocks, the Abbey has created a Hammock Hangout. The search for two good trees is over! In the quad, there is now several posts for you to clip your hammock into. The Hammock Hangout can support 9 hammocks at the same time.
